The game that will never be. What I hope to do is write an "all-spoilers" guide to a game that isn't.

In order of appearance. I looked up words and names for meanings and origins.
Aiyana (eternal blossom).

----Female.
----Shaman = summoner/geomancer. Uses rings. Starts with woven grass ring.
She summons a Mithra and with its help, she can use the environment to her advantage, like wrapping vines around an enemy.
For now, she uses those abilities to tend to the vegetables, herbs, and flowers growing in the communal garden. She lives with her brother in the largely rural commune of Algoma (valley of flowers), home to sustenance farmers and hunters.
Elan (friend)----20.
----Male.
----Hunter. Uses ranged weapons, starts with a Hunter's Bow and arrows.
Aiyana's brother. He, along with the other men of their commune, provides meat. He's overprotective of his sister, especially after an accidental fire took their parents a few years ago. He normally plans through and is calm, except when it comes to Aiyana, then he tends to act rashly.
Eras (short from erasmos, to love) Alexis (defender)----18.
----Male.
----Soldier. Uses his heavy swords.
He's got a heart of gold and a love of justice, which is why he joined the Royal Army. He's somewhat naive and likes to believe the best in people. He's probably the only person not scared of the black mage girl, Melaine.

Mischievous and smooth talking. He has a quick wit to match his skills, he roams in search of anything valuable (both items and information). So naturally he knows quite a bit about...well everything.

----Black Mage. Uses black magic of course. Weapon is a fan, she starts with a Paper Fan.
Employed at the Royal Academy for Magic, she's heading up the research into Summoners and their effectiveness against the Daeva. This one's got an attitude but she's good at what she does and frankly everyone fears her so she hasn't been fired. She put the most effort into creating the
Theory of Numerology of Magic.
The yellow glasses are a nod to the glowing eyes of old school black mages. They reduce glare, let her to see in the dark (reflective like animal's eyes at night, creepy), and allow her to see magic and it's movements.

----White mage. Uses Healing magic. She uses rods to focus her healing powers. She starts with a Pinewood Rod.
Melaine's assistant. An acolyte of the Order of Ahura, she was assigned to help Melaine in her research. She's easily intimidated and would prefer to run from battle than stand and fight. So naturally she's very intimidated by Melaine.

----Green Mage. Inflicts statuses. She uses cards and crystal alls to cast status effects both positive and negative. She starts her with Old Tarot card deck and 50 plain crystal balls.
Always either "out of it" or quite cheerful, nothing phases her. She's a psychic, she has a past with Rasin and isn't about to let him go after he disappeared for two years. Dresses like a belly dancer/gypsy.
Artemis Therian (wild)

----Blue Mage. Can learn enemies techniques. Weapon is a light swords, starts with a Katana.
He really is a nice guy (most elible bachelor next to the Prince himself) but he kind of goes nuts in battle. Intent on understanding the Daeva, he created a comprehensive bestiary but seems to have lost most of the only copy so he has to start all over again.

Chemist. Master items. Available to anyone. Obtained after completing a side quest and certain requirements.
Gambler Beat the odds. Allows for use of guns. Available to Thief and Green mage. Obtained after completing a side quest.
Beast master. Fight with a wild ally. Allows for use of whips and spears. Available to Gaia Whisperer, Hunter, and Blue mage. Obtained after completing a side quest and certain requirements
*Styles and cultures*

Aiyana and Elan are Native American names, as is the name of their village, Algoma. Their style of dress will be tanned leather and natural materials.

Eras, Melaine, Lucine, and Artemis are all Greek/Roman inspired names. The culture is Victorian (which had Greco-Roman influences in architecture, right?), high ranking mages wear a lolita style (varies between type of mage and personality).

Rasin and Ru'yah are Arabic names, the characters hail from the desert.

The Daeva are divided into three categories, Greater Daeva, Lesser Daeva, and monsters.
Greater Daeva: Fortunately there are few of these. Not-so-fortunate is the fact that they have entrapped the most powerful Mithra in their lairs.
Lesser Daeva: There are many more of these than the Greater Daeva. Though they tend to congregate near Greater Daeva they venture off and attack travelers and settlements.
Monsters: These are most common and weakest of the Daeva. They look similar to normal animals; researchers are unsure whether they are the result of the weakest Daeva breeding with animals or simply took on their appearance.

Mithra are nature spirits that a Gaia Whisperer can summon to his/her aid. The type you can summon varies with the landscape and like the Daeva are three levels of Mithra.

The first type is the
Common Mithra, these are the spirits summoned most often and they are also the weakest. Once summoned in battle every action they complete weakens them.

The next type is the
Regional Mithra. They are the major spirit of a given area and can remain in battle longer since they are stronger. It takes a more talented Whisperer to tame this type.

The third and strongest type is the
Master Spirit. Only the most gifted and determined Whisperer would be able to control these spirits, such a person would be able to summon these Spirits anywhere, regardless of their surroundings.

Ukulele no good...
I have some ideas for Rasin (baggy pants and sleeveless jacket?) and Ru'yah (dancer outfit, lol) but the only thing set in stone is that they have long white hair, dark dark tans, longer-than-normal ears. In the script I'm writing, *spoiler* Rasin mentions they might be descended from Viera (I haven't decided if they'll appear the in "game"). */spoiler*
Mithra and Daeva designs would be awesome. I have a the names set down, I think. They're all open to interpretation.

Master Spirits:
Carbuncle, small and cute, Aiyana befriends him while under study by Melaine. He does not have an element, he's pretty average. Helps with finding other Mithra.
